    Join us for our Managing Avalanche Terrain (MAT) course to improve your decision making skills & ability to manage terrain while traveling in the backcountry.

     

    This one day course is focused on improving your trip planning, route finding, group management & decision making skills.

     

    Build your knowledge, skill set & process allowing you to travel safely and confidently through the mountains.

    Available as an add on to Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1)

    » Touring equipment if taking ski/snowboard specific course (touring skis / skins / splitboard)

    » Mechanically sound snowmobile if taking sled specific course

    » Helmet

    » Transceiver (3 antenna)

    » Probe (3 meter recommended)

    » Shovel

    » Warm clothing

    » Food

    » Trail pass (for sled course)

    » Day ticket to Kicking Horse for Golden course (for ski / snowboard course)

    Pricing

    $189 + GST per person

    Private Group Pricing:

    $945 + GST up to 5 people
    $1135 + GST up to 6 people
    $1520 + GST up to 8 people

    Does NOT include trail fees for sled course

    Does NOT include lift ticket at resorts to access the backcountry.

    Refund Policy

    14+ days before the start of your course

    If you cancel your course you will receive a full refund minus a $35 processing fee if cancelled 14+ days before the start date of your course.

    0 – 14 days before the start of your course

    If cancelled within 14 days of the start date of your course you will not receive a refund unless your spot can be filled.

    Please note that if the minimum number of people to run a course is not met the course will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.

    Covid Policy

    If you are sick with Covid 19 & can not make it to your scheduled course you will receive a credit to use at a later date with Stay Wild Backcountry Skills. We will work together with you to find a date that works when you are feeling better.

    You will be required to provide a positive covid test result to receive a credit.

    Please follow the latest CDC / provincial guidelines regarding covid.
