Join us for our Managing Avalanche Terrain (MAT) course to improve your decision making skills & ability to manage terrain while traveling in the backcountry.

This one day course is focused on improving your trip planning, route finding, group management & decision making skills.
Build your knowledge, skill set & process allowing you to travel safely and confidently through the mountains.

Available as an add on to Avalanche Skills Training Level 1 (AST 1) Ski/Snowboard or AST 1 Sled.

MAT courses are available in Golden, Revelstoke, Fernie, Kimberley and Big White.

Private Group Pricing:

  • $975 + GST up to 5 people
  • $1170 + GST up to 6 people
  • $1560 + GST up to 8 people

Does NOT include lift ticket at resorts to access the backcountry | Can get discounted tickets at Kicking Horse, Big White and Fernie.

You will be required to read and acknowledge that you have read our waiver before you complete your booking.

You will also be required to sign a paper waiver the morning of your field day.

14+ days before the start of your course
If you cancel your course you will receive a refund for the field day (the full price minus $100) if cancelled 14+ days before the start date of your course. You will have continued access to the online course and if you do sign up again in the future you will only be charged for the field day.


0 – 14 days before the start of your course
If cancelled within 14 days of the start date of your course you will not receive a refund unless your spot can be filled.


Please note that if the minimum number of people to run a course is not met the course will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.

The AST 1 Sled course will set you up with the knowledge and skill set to start exploring the mountains on your sled.

We’re stoked to offer the in-class portion of our AST 1 as an online course!

If you’re not ready to sign up for an AST 1 field day or live far away but still want to learn, no problem!

You can register for just the AST 1 online course to get your avalanche education started and join us for a field day down the road when the time is right.
