    Sharpen those skills and get ready for the pow season ahead with an online course + optional 1.5 hrs of all things backcountry!

    If you want to sharpen your backcountry skills before you head out this season, consider taking our online Backcountry Refresher course before the snow falls!

    This affordable crash course will have you review + practice transceiver search, probing, and shovelling; go over new information for the 2021 / 22 season including recalls, new products, and any information on park closures or limitations in the era of Covid-19. We’ll also be looking at an avalanche case study in this course and reviewing the human + environmental factors that go into making safe decisions in the backcountry.



    This online course is accessible to anyone with a computer / tablet or smart phone wanting a refresh on backcountry basics + updates before they head out this winter. Must have completed AST 1 to take this course.

    Refund policy

    Online courses are non-refundable. 

    0 – 14 days before start date of your course:
    If cancelled within 14 days of the course start date you will not receive a refund unless your spot can be filled.

    14+ days before the start of your course:
    If cancelled 14 or more days before the start of your course you will be charged a $35 processing fee and receive a full refund minus $35 (not applicable to online courses).

    Please note that if the minimum number of people to run a course is not met the course will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.

    Covid policy

    If you are sick & can not make it to your scheduled course you will receive a credit to use at a later date with Stay Wild Backcountry Skills. We will work together with you to find a date that works when you are feeling better.

    Please do not show up to a course if you are feeling sick or have been exposed to anyone with Covid 19 in the previous 2 weeks to your course. Our instructors can send home students if they show up ill & we will work together with them to reschedule a date.

    Physical distancing will be maintained during courses & camps. If physical distancing can not be maintained (ie gondola) students will be required to wear a face covering (buff / face mask).

    Please respect physical distancing and Covid regulations during our courses / camps.
