    When you register you will get access to our online course! You can complete this in the comfort of your own home. We will meet up via zoom the evening before the field day to answer any questions & drive home key points.

    Prerequisites

    » Avalanche Skills Training Level 1

    » Proficient on your touring skis or splitboard

    »It is recommended to spend one season in the backcountry following your AST 1 before taking the AST 2

    Required equipment

    » Clothing appropriate for touring and standing in cold/snowy weather

    » Small personal first aid kit (sunscreen, lip-balm, moleskin, Band-Aids, medication, etc.)

    » Transceiver – 3 antenna

    » Probe – 3 meters

    » Shovel

    » Helmet

    »Backpack (large enough for all equipment on day tours)

    » Lift pass or discount card for local ski area

    Map, compass, snow saw, snow study kit would all be beneficial but is not necessary.

    $629 per person + GST

    *Does not include lift tickets at resorts to access the backcountry.

    Private Group Pricing:

    $2,500 + GST up to 4 people
    $3,775 + GST up to 6 people
    $5,000 + GST up to 8 people

    Course outline

    Day 1:

    8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Classroom session.
    More info coming soon regarding blended delivery & covid procedures.

    Day 2:

    8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Companion rescue refresher & advanced skills
    Location: backcountry

    Day 3:

    8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Decision making, terrain verification, stability tests while traveling ect
    Location: backcountry

    Day 4:

    8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Planned & lead by the class
    Location: backcountry

    Can be split into two weekends!

    Refund policy

    If cancelled within 14 days of the booking date you will not receive a refund unless your spot can be filled.

    If cancelled before the 14 day mark you will be charged a $35 processing fee and receive a full refund minus $35 (not applicable to online courses).

    Please note that if the minimum number of people to run a course is not met the course will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.

    Covid policy

    If you are sick & can not make it to your scheduled course you will receive a credit to use at a later date with Stay Wild Backcountry Skills. We will work together with you to find a date that works when you are feeling better.

    Please do not show up to a course if you are feeling sick or have been exposed to anyone with Covid 19 in the previous 2 weeks to your course. Our instructors can send home students if they show up ill & we will work together with them to reschedule a date.

    Physical distancing will be maintained during courses & camps. If physical distancing can not be maintained (ie gondola) students will be required to wear a face covering (buff / face mask).

    Please respect physical distancing and Covid regulations during our courses / camps.
